About the ABLATE Program
What is the ABLATE Program?
The American Breast Laser Ablation Therapy Evaluation (ABLATE) program tracks participants who undergo Novilase™ Breast Therapy for benign breast tumors. Hundreds of women are expected to participate in the ABLATE program that will evaluate their long-term outcomes and may improve the breast health of women worldwide.
Why Should I Consider Participating?
The FDA-cleared, Novilase™ breast therapy treatment uses precision laser technology to eliminate benign tumors without the trauma of surgery. This minimally invasive procedure offers many advantages over surgical removal including less risk, an improved cosmetic outcome and shorter recovery time. As a registry participant, the Novilase™ portion of the treatment will be performed at no cost. More importantly, the information collected during the program may lead to new and improved breast cancer treatment techniques that will help millions of women worldwide—and you could be a part of that!
What Will I Be Asked to Do?
After undergoing the Novilase™ procedure, you will be asked to make follow-up visits so that doctors can track your progress. ABLATE program doctors and their staff will respect your privacy. Details about your condition will not be shared with anyone who is not directly associated with the program. Records of your participation will be maintained and kept confidential to the extent permitted by law.
Are There Risks or Potential Complications from the Novilase™ procedure?
All procedures carry potential risks. Since the Novilase™ procedure uses local anesthesia rather than general anesthesia or IV sedation, the risks of surgical complications are reduced. Minimally invasive procedures also shorten recovery time and minimize post-operative scarring compared to conventional surgical lumpectomy.
Your doctor will review a document with you prior to your enrollment that discusses the potential risks and complications to make sure you have a full understanding about the procedure and the registry. Your participation in the ABLATE program is completely voluntary. You may stop taking part in the program at any time and no new information will be collected.
